ICE Barbie Kristi Noem ignited a political firestorm on Friday by suggesting her Department of Homeland Security has a role in ensuring “the right people” are voting in upcoming elections.
They told us all about how this was part of the plan-why is anyone surprised at what is happening? The woman lacks any control or subtlety, so she is always going to be blurting out stuff she shouldn’t be reminding us about.
It’s hard to let go of the idea that we can be saved by the laws and traditions we created for over 200 years-but these bozos have no intention of following any law that restricts them in any way. ICE has reportedly ignored over 4,000 court orders to cease and desist what they do, and nothing has happened to stop them. What use is the law when just ignoring it brings no consequences?
We have argued about the moral validity of a state whose power is based on the projection of force-comply or die, this is what it looks like when that power is abused. Now we need to decide if noncompliance (and possibly dying) will do enough. I suspect that it will come to shows of force, and that will be bad for everyone.
