Sadly, there's also a phenomenon (which may or may not apply here) where raising the price increases sales because it send the message "I'm rich enough to burn money." But attributing any kind of deep logic here seems futile to me. Executives without impulse control are the new thing.
Hopefully I'm not offending anyone here (very unlikely), but when I see someone driving one of those horrific monstrosities, I know those folks have more money than IQ.
You can get a much better price by waiting as long as possible before buying. I plan to wait forever.
