Walk through a giant human body at the Netherlands’ Corpus Museum, home of the 115-foot orange man
Venture just outside Leiden in the Netherlands, and you’ll spot a gigantic 115-foot-tall orange human figure looming beside the highway. The giant sits mysteriously, partially swallowed by a glass building. This eye-catching sculpture serves as the front door to the Corpus Museum — an anatomy museum built directly into the giant’s body.
According to Atlas Obscura, visitors enter through the figure’s leg and follow a guided path upward through the human body, encountering interactive organs and systems along the way. The displays bring digestion, circulation, and brain activity to life with immersive visuals and playful experiences that make biology accessible to all ages.
The journey through the giant ends in an upper-level science area with hands-on exhibits and a café. From there, guests can look out through the glass walls at the enormous orange figure they just traveled through. This museum brilliantly doubles as both a biology lesson and a roadside spectacle — I wish it were closer to home because it looks incredible.
