Unredacted Epstein files contain a whole lot of “Donald J. Trump”
Justice seems to be a lost concept in these United States.
After reviewing unredacted Epstein files, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) told Axios that when he searched for Donald Trump’s name, it appeared “more than a million times,” and at least one document appears to directly contradict Trump’s public claims about the extent of his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
The more folks look into the Epstein Files, the more it is found that convicted felon and fraudster Donald Trump has contradicted himself. The story of kicking Epstein out of his supper club, and his well-wishes to convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, become stranger as the President becomes even less credible.
Why it matters: At least one of the files Raskin found appears to contradict what Trump has publicly claimed about his association with Jeffrey Epstein, according to the House Judiciary Committee ranking member.
That document is a 2009 email exchange between Epstein and his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, in which Epstein recounted his lawyers’ account of a phone call with Trump, as Raskin previously told reporters.
“Trump is paraphrased and quoted as saying, ‘No, Jeffrey Epstein was not a member of Mar-a-Lago, but he was a guest at Mar-a-Lago, and no, we never asked him to leave,’” Raskin said in an interview at the Capitol.
So, does Trump think Maxwell is evil, or does he wish her well? Why is he considering a pardon for someone he declared to be evil? Could it be dangling a carrot to keep her quiet?
The really troubling thing about all the Epstein Files brouhaha is that we don’t need the files. Trump has been accused of sexual misconduct at least 27 or 28 times, he has been found liable for sexual misconduct, and he clearly has a deep history with the world’s most notorious sexual predator, Jeffrey Epstein. If Republicans in Congress were going to take any action, they would have. If the United States Department of Justice were credible, we wouldn’t be in this mess.
Who can do anything to fix it, and what does fixing it look like? Justice seems to be a lost concept in these United States.
