Having finished The Tainted Cup, I immediately dove into the next Ana and Din novel by Robert Jackson Bennett. I also finished the third in the series. Now I must wait.
This series fantasy worldbuilding inside of a detective novel is really a lot of fun. The excellent balance between mystery, history, and what feels like some strong character development of our mains between the two leaves me waiting for the next installment. Din is learning more about the politics of the Empire, the politics of the absurd, and the horrible authority necessary to maintain a society in the face of terrors that leave the world changed at every touch. Ana is just badass.
If you want a great series to get lost in for a week or two, I can highly recommend the Ana and Din mysteries.
