Trump back to blaming the victim, business as usual for ICE
America continues its slide into fascism.
Convicted felon Trump is once again blaming the dead for state violence and excessive use of force.
The Orange Menace’s desire to lower the temperature in Minneapolis lasted less than a week. Trump took to his diminutive social media network to declare Pretti an “agitator” and “perhaps an insurrectionist.” Claiming the executed ICU nurses’ “stock has gone way down” after a video of a prior run-in with ICE surfaced, and MAGA trolls attempted to slander Pretti.
“It was quite a display of abuse and anger, for all to see, crazed and out of control,” Trump said of Pretti kicking the DHS vehicle. “The ICE Officer was calm and cool, not an easy thing to be under those circumstances!”
In the released video, immediately after Pretti kicks out the tail light of the vehicle, multiple DHS agents can be seen exiting the vehicle and then grabbing Pretti and violently throwing him to the ground.
Trump’s continued attacks on Pretti echo lies from his MAGA base which have tried to paint the ICU nurse with zero criminal record as everything from a trans woman, to a violent criminal who was fired from his job for inappropriate behavior, all of which have been thoroughly debunked.
The administration’s attempt to shift blame for the recent violence away from ICE and onto their victims is not sticking with the American people.
It seems sending in Tom Homan while removing a guy who dressed like a Gruppenführer was just changing the face of the violence. While Homan is willing to talk to local leaders, Krisit Noem and Stephen Miller are still in their jobs, and ICE is still on the streets in Minnesota. Democrats, fearing a shutdown that Republicans have not shied away from using as a battering ram for years, had an opportunity to stop the madness but did not.
America continues its slide into fascism.
