This guy claims to have improved cast-iron seasoning
The nonstick performance comes from oil seasoning, not the blue oxide.
A YouTuber claims that boiling some vinegar and water in your cast-iron pan before seasoning will improve the results. Watch for yourself:
My take on this is the bluing is mostly cosmetic, if at all functional. Cast-iron pans season easily and are pretty easy to care for. The thin layer of black magnetite, this YTuber claims, is “the secret” likely to make the pan look nicer and slightly more uniform, but it doesn’t meaningfully improve seasoning. The nonstick performance comes from oil seasoning, not the blue oxide.
