Suspect tries Spider-Man escape under Bay Bridge, it does not work (video)
A daring escape plan, missing only the escape.
A stolen car chase in San Francisco took a surreal turn when a suspect abandoned his vehicle on the Bay Bridge and attempted to escape by climbing along the structure’s underside, hundreds of feet above the water.
SFPD said the incident began on the afternoon of April 1, when officers spotted a gray car driving in San Francisco on 8th and Market streets. The car had been reported stolen out of South San Francisco.
Officers attempted the pull the driver over, but the car did not yield, and continued traveling toward the Bay Bridge. Police launched a drone to follow from the air, while officers on the ground followed in pursuit.
Once the car entered the bridge, California Highway Patrol officers joined the chase. Video shows the car suddenly stopping on the bridge near Treasure Island.
Officers were shocked when they realized that the suspect was climbing under the bridge, 500 feet above the ocean, in a dramatic escape attempt.
A daring escape plan, missing only an escape.
