Stranger Things returns to Dead by Daylight with Vecna and Eleven
Truly, the strangest thing is how long this show has been running.
Dead by Daylight, an asymmetrical multiplayer slasher-versus-survivors game, is quickly becoming a horror-themed Fortnite. When it added Nicolas Cage (yes, that Nicolas Cage, playing himself) to its ever-expanding roster of playable characters, I thought no other DbD announcement could surprise me. I was wrong!
Back in 2019, DbD had a crossover chapter with Stranger Things, a show people still liked then. Standard stuff: play as a Demogorgon, put Steve in a funny hat, all that jazz — except the DLC was pulled from digital storefronts a few years later when Netflix revoked the license to focus on its own gaming endeavors, which haven’t quite worked out.
Evidently, no soured professional relationship is immune to the conciliatory power of a fat check. Stranger Things will return for another round of DLC to tie into the final season, this time bringing Vecna, Dustin, and Eleven herself to the Entity’s realm. The first pack is even back on the store after all this time, ready to make Netflix money again.
Once again, DbD runs into the core problem of “why doesn’t every superpowered character just blast their way out instead of bothering with fixing generators?” At least the game is fun.
