Portland declares inflatable frog a public safety threat
Police say the man behind the viral frog costume ignored orders to leave the street during a January protest, earning himself probation and a three-block exclusion zone from a local ICE facility.
Seth Todd pleaded no contest to second-degree attempted disorderly conduct on Monday, the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office has announced. The agency revealed he was sentenced to bench probation for three months, in which he will be banned from being within three blocks of the ICE building on 4310 S Macadam Ave.Suspect in Plaid Pantry murder identified by police
Todd, who was dubbed the Portland Frog after wearing an inflatable frog costume to anti-ICE protests last fall, was first charged in January — after federal agents shot and injured two people near a Portland hospital.
In an ensuing demonstration outside of the ICE facility on Thursday, Jan. 8, police reported that a crowd of people had blocked traffic on the nearby Southwest Bancroft Street. A probable cause affidavit alleged the Portland Police Bureau’s Rapid Response Team warned people they could be arrested if they did not move, but Todd “refused” and told an officer “You get on the sidewalk.”
Call it proportional response in 2026: a sprawling federal enforcement apparatus meets an inflatable frog and decides the real solution is paperwork, perimeter rules, and making absolutely sure the frog doesn’t come back.
