I read the linked Chomsky article https://boingboing.net/2023/03/09/noam-chomsky-explains-the-difference-between-chatgpt-and-true-intelligence.html, & then I read the Bb comments on that article, https://bbs.boingboing.net/t/noam-chomsky-explains-the-difference-between-chatgpt-and-true-intelligence/243709 from 2023, & then I got the sads about how much depth, humour, liveliness & community has been lost in the comments, since Boingboing moved to Substack & started the paid subscription model.

I went down a rabbit hole when chatgpt told me that a common humorous sign is "No Smoking, unless it's gossip!" I asked if that was true. Only after several rounds of insisting it is a common saying and me asking for just one example, did it admit that it made that up. Since lots of humorous signs talk about No Smoking, and lots of other humorous signs talk about gossip, the AI said it leapt to the idea that putting them together would be even more humorous and prevalent.
