Newly elected New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill accused convicted felon Donald Trump of illegally usurping power and running a self-enriching grift with his tariffs, stealing from every US taxpayer.
Sherrill took office with a bold statement about public service and duty, while clearly drawing a sharp line between Donald Trump’s self-service and what a politician should be doing. The Governor’s statement is important because of its clarity in a time of crumbling democracy.
