I’ve never actually watched the fantastical pirate-themed anime One Piece, largely due to its imposing length. (Pause to snicker.) I am a little bitter that Netflix actually seems to have hit the mark with its live-action adaptation, though—in stark contrast to its handling of classics like Avatar: The Last Airbender and Cowboy Bebop.
When a second season was announced last year, fan response was massively positive, a sentiment that seems to have persisted through the recent release of an actual trailer. It has everything you could want: swashbuckling, swordfighting, stretching, and a lot of extremely improbable wigs.

I have a soft spot for Netflix's "Cowboy Bebop", and would have been happy to watch another season. I don't know exactly why it failed; maybe fans of the original felt that there was no need for a live-action version, and people who weren't fans already didn't respond to the aesthetic. But I think the main actors all gave their best and the visuals are often lovely.
Maybe they can make a spin-off series with Ana and Gren as the main characters …
