Lawmakers posture as if they’ll do something as the Trump Administration keeps delaying the Epstein files release
Threats of prosecution loom as Democratic lawmakers rattle sabers and the Trump DOJ ignores the deadline set by Congress to release the Epstein files. With images of Trump condoms now released as part of the photo dump, Trump’s well-understood close friendship with Epstein and the qualifications they sought in “employees” so similar as to have resulted in Epstein “stealing” Trump’s girls, it is unclear what further proof folks expect the files to reveal, but here we are.
In a joint statement from Oversight ranking members Robert Garcia (D-CA) and Jamie Raskin (D-MD), the lawmakers said that President Donald Trump’s administration and Attorney General Pam Bondi more specifically were violating federal law after attempting to conceal facts and evidence about the deceased child abuser Jeffrey Epstein. The files were slated to be released Friday, which the Department of Justice was legally mandated to do.
Meanwhile, the DOJ is, of course, claiming they need more time, which has been the story for ages:
“So today is the 30 days when I expect that we’re going to release several hundred thousand documents today,” Blanche told Fox News on Friday. “And just so everybody appreciates, President Trump has said, for years, that he wants full transparency, and he wants the Department of Justice to release everything that we can with respect to this investigation in cases.”
“And so what we’re doing is we are looking at every single piece of paper that we are going to produce, making sure that every victim, their name, their identity, their story, to the extent it needs to be protected, is completely protected,” he added. “And so I expect that we’re going to release more documents over the next couple of weeks. So today, several hundred thousand. And then over the next couple weeks, I expect several hundred thousand more. “
Will Republicans suddenly abandon Trump and vote to impeach him?
These delays aren't about Trump. He could shoot someone on Fifth Ave in clear daylight and his supporters would still back him.
This is about all the other names: the wealthy and well-connected, the donors and consultants, the politicians and public figures that comprise the Epstein Class. They're the ones getting scrubbed out.
