Jeff Hays will play Princess Donut in the Dungeon Crawler Carl adaptation
“God damnit Donut!”
While the Dungeon Crawler Carl books are addictive, the audiobooks are incredible. Producer and voice actor Jeff Hays is the reason.
I got sucked into Dungeon Crawler Carl in early June, and rapidly read the first five books in under a week. The entire time, several friends were insisting I try the audiobooks. I did, and surprisingly, my pals were right. Jeff Hays makes the material even better than I imagined it.
So far, the only cast member confirmed for Dungeon Crawler Carl is Jeff Hays, the narrator and producer of the audiobooks. He’ll voice Princess Donut. This exciting news broke at San Diego Comic-Con, during Matt Dinniman’s spotlight panel.
Reflecting on his casting in a conversation with EW, Hays was well aware that, for fans, there was no other option for Princess Donut’s voice.
“The Dungeon Crawler Carl fan community has been demanding this,” he said, adding, jokingly, “I think it’s possible you could consider the producers doing this under duress.”
For his part, Yost explained, “It was the easiest decision we’ve ever made. At the end of the day, not only do millions of fans around the world already know and love Jeff, like us, listening to all eight books on repeat for years. Of course, we [asked,] What about this person or that person? But we kept coming back to the same idea of there is one voice.”
This gives me great hope the television show will be worth watching. I have still avoided Station Eleven and Silo on tv– because I don’t want the books ruined.

My only regret is that I didn't find out about DCC in a few years when all the books are finished so I could have read them all at once. I keep telling my kids to read this series, it's one of the best I've ever read. Just love it.
