Hunter S. Thompson’s “Red Shark” can be yours
"No point mentioning those bats, I thought. The poor bastard will see them soon enough."
Hunter S. Thompson’s personal “Red Shark,” a red 1973 Chevrolet Caprice convertible gifted to him after he immortalized one in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, is heading to auction.
Christie’s estimates the car could sell for $100,000 to $150,000. Thompson owned the Caprice from 1990 until his death in 2005 and named it after the “Great Red Shark,” the drug-fueled road-trip machine driven off a rental lot and into infamy by Raoul Duke and Dr. Gonzo in Thompson’s gonzo masterpiece.
