Hiker tries jingling bells to stop charging bear, miraculously not dead (video)
Natural selection apparently took the day off, and thankfully, no one was injured.
A hiker in the Angeles National Forest danced in to face off with a charging bear, utilizing that time-honored wilderness survival strategy of jumping around and jingling bells. This approach, contrary to expectations, did not end badly but may have served as the watershed moment between “saw a bear” and “was chased by a bear.”
The video shows the hiker jumping and jingling bells as he faced the bear on the Mount Wilson Trail.
Another nearby hiker captured the video and said that the man was trying to scare the bear away.
He said he then hid behind bushes to let the bear pass so he could continue hiking.
Fortunately, no one was hurt.
Natural selection apparently took the day off, and thankfully, no one was injured. Had someone been injured, we can be sure the bear would have been blamed and terminated.

Never try to outrun a bear.
You just have to outrun your companion(s).
