Yet again, the President of the United States, at an official-looking manufacturing/economy event, performed microphone goblin theater while everyone pretended this was normal governance.

This is the central mystery of late-stage Trumpism: not that he does these things, but that hundreds of adults stand around afterward and describe them using words like “remarks,” “agenda,” and “message.” Sir, that was not a message. That was a haunted squeeze toy filing for reelection.
