Grandpa Pudding Brains is bragging that America has “a war going on” and the economy is booming, because apparently, the Dow hitting “number 69” is now how we measure national health.
This is the Grandpa Pudding Brains worldview: war is not a catastrophe, or a policy failure, or a thing that gets people killed. It is an atmosphere. It is background noise for bragging about markets, ratings, birthdays, UFC cages on the White House lawn, and whatever number wandered into his head before the sentence ran out of road.
The number was 69, the war was ongoing, and the brain was soup.
