ExeKiller: chrome-dipped cowboy simulator incoming
The only thing cooler than cowboys might be cyborg cowboys. This is a truth that best-RPG-ever-made Fallout: New Vegas understands, and I can’t believe it’s taken fifteen years for a new contender to throw its chrome-dipped Stetson in the ring.
We live in a very good time for indie games — you might even remember one winning Game of the Year not too long ago. In a constant deluge of brand-new indies, it can be hard to single out any in particular, but recently-announced immersive sim ExeKiller has captured my interest.
It lies squarely at the intersection of Deus Ex, New Vegas, and Cyberpunk, casting you as a corporate bounty hunter taking life one target at a time in a post-apocalyptic, sand-covered New York. You have complete freedom across a series of large, nonlinear levels to hunt these varmints down any way you see fit… or not.
It also looks immensely ambitious for a debut project, which naturally tempers my expectations. Still, I’m always game for a cowboy simulator, especially one that purports to offer as much freedom as this.
