Escaped pygmy goats try Portland public transit
Billy the Kid and Billy the Goat boarded the FX2 Tuesday before passengers ushered them off, and their owner has since added a lock.
Budding Portland celebrities Billy the Kid and Billy the Goat escaped their owner's yard, found a TriMet stop, and briefly attempted the morning commute.
Two pygmy goats showed up at a Portland bus stop Tuesday morning, waited for the FX2 and climbed on aboard with the other passengers. Human passengers, however, refused to share and quickly ushered the goats off.
Emergency dispatchers received a 911 call reporting two pygmy goats loose in the area of Southeast 162nd Avenue and Division Street. Transit staff reviewing surveillance cameras at a TriMet station confirmed the sighting and watched as the animals boarded a stopped bus before quickly hopping back off.
The bus operator spotted the goats and reopened the doors, but the animals wandered toward a shopping center near the northeast corner of the intersection, where they disappeared from camera view.
Portland Police Bureau officers searched the area, but transit officials could not confirm if the goats were ever located. No additional reports of loose goats were received by dispatchers later that day.
Their owner has since added another lock and chain to the gate.
Let the kids ride the bus.
