Dept. of Education quietly yanks Charlie Kirk banner after people notice it exists
For a brief and disgusting moment, the U.S. Department of Education decided that noted bigot, misogynist, and poor debater Charlie Kirk belonged on a banner alongside Martin Luther King Jr. and Booker T. Washington as part of a 250th anniversary display celebrating “heroes in American education.”
Then, just as quietly, the banner disappeared.
The inclusion of Kirk alongside historic figures such as King and Washington quickly sparked debate online, with critics questioning the decision to include a contemporary political figure in a display honoring major contributors to American education and civil rights.
The Department of Education has not publicly detailed the reason for the banner’s removal.
Turns out elevating a guy known for calling college a scam to the Department of Education’s Mount Rushmore of learning went over like a lead balloon.
