BuzzFeed doubts it can stay in business after pivot to AI
As 2023 beckoned, BuzzFeed CEO Jonah Peretti shut down the site’s Pulitzer prize-winning newsroom, then turned on ChatGPT, and soon announced that AI would “replace the majority” of content henceforth. Three years on, a disastrous earnings call put the writing on the wall. BuzzFeed has “substantial doubt it can stay in business.”
