NBC Philly: Couple's passion wrecks vehicle

NBC Philadelphia got to work putting euphemisms into play when a love-making couple mistakenly knocked their car out of gear and rolled into the Schuylkill.
NBC Philly described a couple knockin' boots in their 2020 Range Rover as "getting busy" and engaged in "romantic activities." It is reported that both participants were unharmed if unsatisfied.
Officials said the vehicle — a 2020 Range Rover — rolled into the water after it was parked along the roadway and was accidently shifted into drive by a couple that was inside the vehicle at the time.
A police representative told NBC10 they believed the pair were "getting busy" when the vehicle was accidently shifted out of park and into gear.
However, both individuals — who police have provided no further identifying information on — were able to escape the vehicle before it rolled into the water and they were unharmed, officials said.

An adopted stray cat proved to be a quick study, wasting no time learning the ropes on how to become a domestic cat.
To master indoor cat mannerisms and etiquette, the newcomer, technically still a kitten, simply mimicked every single thing her older feline brother did. From sitting and walking to stretching and sniffing, video caught the adorable stray literally being a "copy cat." (See video below, posted by 99centnuggets.)

Panicking Trump melts down on social media: spreads QAnon, 2020 election lies, sexist attacks against Harris, fascist agenda

Things aren't going Donald's way. He thought he'd escaped Jack Smith's prosecution against him for subverting the election, but when it caught back up to him, he lost his mind and unleashed a torrent of unhinged paranoid ravings on his failing Truth Social account.
As reported in Rolling Stone:
Trump posted dozens of memes and comments from accounts promoting the QAnon conspiracy theory, false claims about the 2020 election, sexist attacks against Kamala Harris, and the use of authoritarian tactics against his political enemies.
According to the progressive watchdog Media Matters, the former president promoted QAnon — an expansive conspiracy that claims Trump is waging battle against satanic forces that control the government — at least 15 times on Wednesday morning. These included images using the conspiracy slogan "Where We Go One, We Go All," and references to the conspiracy's belief that "the storm is coming."
Trump also reposted memes that called for the imprisonment of President Biden, Hunter Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Anthony Fauci, Bill Gates, and Kamala Harris.
I can't wait for the debate on September 10.

After CNN decided to fix the Trump Campaign's further insults to Arlington National Cemetary, the New York Times said HOLD MY BEER.
The New York Times is elevating the words of noted liar Donald Trump's campaign staff and putting them on par with those of a government official whose job is to uphold respectful behavior at one of our nation's most revered sites. I did not read the whole article, so I didn't get to the point where they almost certainly complained about Joe Biden's age or mental acuity. The New York Times is so far gone as to be irreparable.
There was nothing but a campaign opportunity here for Trump, and he doesn't care about the massive disrespect he has shown our service people. Trump deeply cared about the "hollowed ground."

Brain Worm Jr.'s plan to help Donald backfires as states refuse ballot removal

Bobby Kennedy Jr. has always wanted to live up to his famous family name. He's nailed the philandering part, but as a politician, he's a disaster—worse than George Santos, who at least managed to get elected and hold on to his seat for almost a year before getting the boot and facing a long prison stint.
Still, Junior is stubborn. Desperate to stay in the political game, he ditched his Democrat act and teamed up with Donald, eager to accept the role of Crazy Czar. Donald was all for it — he loved the idea of a Kennedy, even a defective one, kissing his ass? Plus, Kennedy's exit was supposed to hand over some key votes.
So imagine Trump's surprise when Michigan, Wisconsin, and Colorado refused to let Kennedy off their ballots, throwing a wrench in the plan. To make matters worse, Junior is now telling his supporters to vote for him wherever they can, messing up Trump's "strategy."
Now Donald's got Bobby and J.D. on his dream team. I'd call them the 3 Stooges, but that would be an insult to the original trio's competence.
Scotty McCreery stops concert when he sees unhinged man in crowd: "That's a lady you just hit, Sir!"

Country music star Scotty McCreery abruptly stopped singing in the middle of a Colorado concert to take care of an unsavory gentleman in the crowd. "That's a lady you just hit, Sir!" he shouted, pointing his finger towards the man.
"Absolutely not, you just hit the lady," McCreery said at the Colorado State Fair, causing people to gasp. The 30-year-old former American Idol winner then told the unhinged fellow to get out. "Git! Police, security…is she okay?"
As the crowd cheered for McCreery, he again told the man to "get the hell out of here!…On God's green earth. At a Scotty McCreery show?"
"Y'all let the cop know who hit the lady," McCreery told his fans, who can be seen on camera pointing to the assailant. "That's absolutely unacceptable." (See video below, posted by KFDA NewsChannel10.)
According to USA Today, Colorado State Fair officials confirmed that "a man assaulted a woman" but did not disclose the creep's identity or whether or not he was arrested.

Popular YouTube and Stanford neuroscientist Andrew Huberman claims waiting an hour and a half after waking up before you begin drinking coffee is good for you. Coffee expert James Hoffmann tried to prove his results with no success.
The general gist of relatively frequent Joe Rogan guest Andrew Huberman is that you will sleep better by starting your coffee consumption later. While Huberman cites studies on caffeine and its impacts on the brain, his assumptions leave much room for debate. YouTube's number one expert on brewing, drinking, and enjoying coffee decided to dig in and couldn't confirm Huberman's coffee protocol worked.

Tropical virus causes "sloth fever" panic in United States

Twenty-one cases of Oropouche virus disease, also known as sloth fever, have been reported in the United States (20 in Florida and one in New York), as well as 19 cases in Europe, according to a Washington Post report. Most of these cases involve travelers returning from Cuba and Brazil.
The virus is primarily transmitted by biting midges and certain types of mosquitoes. It can spread among mosquitoes and vertebrate animals, such as sloths, primates, rodents, and wild birds, before being transmitted to humans.
Approximately 60% of infected individuals develop symptoms, which may include sudden fever, severe headache, chills, muscle and joint pain, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and a skin rash. In rare instances, the virus can lead to more serious conditions like meningitis and encephalitis. Pregnant women are particularly at risk, as the virus can cause significant harm to fetal development, potentially leading to conditions such as microcephaly and miscarriage.
Currently, there are no vaccines or specific treatments available for sloth fever. Preventive measures include avoiding bites from midges and mosquitoes by using insect repellents, wearing long-sleeved clothing, and staying in screened or air-conditioned environments. While extreme measures like isolating oneself on the Moon may provide absolute prevention, more practical options are recommended for most people.

Two men arrested for impersonating freaky demon and scaring people

Residents of some Asian countries recently celebrated Ghost Month. Originating in Taoist and Buddhist traditions, it's a period during which the spirits of the deceased return to the world of the living, prompting rituals and offerings to appease and honor them. For a fellow named Tsao, 35, and his buddy Chang, 50, it was a perfect opportunity to freak out residents of Yuanlin City, Taiwan.
Chang donned a white dress and long red tongue to impersonate a particular female ghost well-known in Taiwanese folklore. According to the Taipei Times, this demon "is a vicious spirit out to take revenge against men who had done her wrong, and all males must avoid her at all costs, lest she kills and eats them, folklore experts said."
He then stood on a street corner while Tsao videotaped the scene. However, some passers-by reported the prank to police leading to the arrest of the men who said they were doing it all for the clicks.
They were charged for allegedly violating the Social Order Maintenance Act by ""scaring another person by wearing a disguise or mask, or using other ways to a degree of that may undermine safety." They're facing an NTS$30,000 fine or three days in jail, according to the Yualin Police Station chief.

Little boy accidentally smashes ancient pottery at museum

A family was enjoying a lovely trip to the the Hecht Museum in Haifa, Israel when they heard a loud crashing sound. The father of the family, a fellow named Alex, turned to see that a huge piece of pottery on display—a 3,500-year-old Bronze Age jar —was in pieces on the museum floor.
"It wasn't my child that did it," Alex thought… hoped… wished.
Alas, it was indeed his four-year-old son who approached the unprotected artifact and "pulled the jar slightly" on its stand as he was "curious about what was inside." Ooops.
Alex comforted the boy, who was utterly distraught about the accident, before explaining to a security guard what happened. According to the BBC News, the museum did a wonderful job handling the situation:
"There are instances where display items are intentionally damaged, and such cases are treated with great severity, including involving the police," Lihi Laszlo from the museum told the BBC.
"In this case, however, this was not the situation. The jar was accidentally damaged by a young child visiting the museum, and the response will be accordingly."
A specialist in conservation has also been appointed to restore the jar, and it will be returned to its spot "in a short time."
Not only that, but the museum has invited the family back for a special tour.

CNN somehow thinks Trump's legal problems are "challenges" for Kamala Harris.
Bending over backward twice, CNN has gone all out to try and make Donald Trump's milelong list of indictments and convictions a problem for the Harris campaign. "Still, her campaign must have some concerns that some moderate, swing voters might view yet another indictment of the former president as overkill." What the hell is that?

Ostrich halts traffic on South Dakota highway

An ostrich made its ploy for freedom Tuesday, jumping out of a trailer on a four-lane road outside of Sioux Falls. It stayed there, bringing traffic to a halt and forcing motorists to "lure and nudge the towering bird" off the thoroughfare.
As police and animal officials responded, motorists hopped out of their cars and managed to carefully corral the flightless bird. Video shot by bystanders showed people coaxing the bird off the road by offering up food in a plastic container and a few gentle nudges. A police spokesman said the bird was among several ostriches being hauled in a trailer owned by an out-of-state traveler before it escaped. The owner helped capture the bird and managed to get it back into the trailer.
The ostrich was unharmed by its escapade, according to Sioux Falls animal control. The original story was in the Argus Leader there, reported by Angela George: "Stop for coffee, stay for the ostrich."
Rhoades could not confirm where the owner of the ostrich was coming from or going to, only that he was passing through Sioux Falls.
Serenity Young, who works in admissions at the Great Plains Zoo, also confirmed that the ostrich did not belong to the zoo, which only has an emu.

Horny dolphin blamed for incident that left 18 people injured

While some aquatic mammals have recently gotten busy by attacking billionaires in yachts, others have been a bit more desperate for action. Or at least, that's the leading theory behind a recent dolphin attack at Japan's Mihama Beach that left 18 people injured in the wake of violent humping by a bottlenose dolphin. According to The Telegraph:
Putu Mustika, a lecturer and marine researcher at James Cook University in Australia, told The New York Times that dolphins can inadvertently harm humans by dint of their sheer strength when acting out mating behaviours.
"Dolphins, when they are mating, can be very wild," she said, adding that the act of lunging on top of a human could be seen as a sexual act and a sign that the dolphin was "horny, lonely".
This dolphin could also be naturally aggressive or aggravated by humans trying to touch it, she said.
The same dolphin is believed to be behind a spate of similar humpings in 2022 and 2023. Perhaps humans aren't the only mammals capable of becoming incels?

Harris ad blasts Trump's Project 2025

Donald Trump continues to distance himself from Project 2025, which he formerly acknowledged as being written on his behalf, but the Harris campaign won't let him off so quickly.
I am glad to see the tone of the Harris Walz campaign's advertising. Finally, Democrats are aggressively attacking the terrible ideas Republicans have for the direction of our nation without the bitterness, anger, and fear Republicans insist on. Trurmp said these things, and the quote about "detailed plans for what our movement will do" came out of a speech thanking the Heritage Foundation for authoring Project 2025.

Trump shilling his cards
Trump dropped a new video yesterday, but it wasn't a scathing attack on his opponents or one of those digressive interviews he does with podcasters: it was an ad for his latest NFT card drop. Now you can get bits of a suit he wore, relics for the cult.
The card art is airbrushed nearly-realistic slop of the sort that's easy to bash out in photoshop and easier still to generate with AI: Trump posed as various archetypes, all notably slimmer and healthier than the real thing.
It's a good example of the "right to play" alt-lite humor vein of contemporary American conservatism—much more so than the SNL-simulating humor of Trumpy Trout.
The one thing that might make this fun would be if it had been done as "Trump Trumps," but that would involve working with another brand, co-operating with human beings, more printing actual cards, less cult weirdness around suit bits or NFTs, etc.

The Otamatone is an electronic synthesizer shaped like an eighth note.
What is an otamatone? The otamatone is a cute Japanese synthesizer shaped like an eighth note with a face. You move your fingers along the stem to produce notes and squeeze the sides of the mouth to open it and add effects to the notes. Some people are ridiculously good at it.
There are tiny ones that are even cuter:
There are also many, many otamatone covers, and some of them are pretty great. Like this Gotye song that will be stuck in your head all day.
This classic 80s song and its excellent video by Ah-ha:
And, of course, the Imperial March.
They are a ton of fun to play with, even if, like me, you can't play anything that remotely resembles a song on it. You can get one that looks like Kirby or my personal favorite, Aggretsuko.

California woman mailed Apple AirTag to herself to catch her porch pirates

A California woman, fed up with packages disappearing from her porch, mailed an AirTag to herself. The thieves stole it, it was traced to their location, and she sent in the cops.
Don't confront thieves on your own, especially at their own lair.
AirTags have also proven useful in exposing the lies airlines tell people about the location of their luggage. German carrier Lufthansa briefly tried to ban them, thereby Streisanding its own errors and misstatements. The convenient and inconspicious devices have their dark side, though, enabling the activities of stalkers.

Trump staffers "abused and shoved" Arlington National Cemetary official who wouldn't let them film fresh graves

Trump gives fresh graves his personal thumbs up at Arlington. Photo: Utah Governor Spencer Cox
As former president Donald Trump enjoyed a campaign photo op at Arlington National Cemetary—thumbs up!—two members of his team allegedly verbally abused and shoved a cemetery official who stopped them filming an area with fresh graves.
A source with knowledge of the incident said the cemetery official tried to prevent Trump staffers from filming and photographing in a section where recent U.S. casualties are buried. The source said Arlington officials had made clear that only cemetery staff members would be authorized to take photographs or film in the area, known as Section 60.
When the cemetery official tried to prevent Trump campaign staff from entering Section 60, campaign staff verbally abused and pushed the official aside, according to the source.
The Trump campaign at first threatened to release video proving that claims were defamatory and that the official was "clearly suffering from a mental health episode," as Trump spokesman Steven Cheung put it, but "declined to make that footage immediately available" when NPR asked to see it.
From a formal statement from Arlington National Cemetery:
"Federal law prohibits political campaign or election-related activities within Army National Military Cemeteries, to include photographers, content creators or any other persons attending for purposes, or in direct support of a partisan political candidate's campaign," according to the statement. "Arlington National Cemetery reinforced and widely shared this law and its prohibitions with all participants."
Special counsel refiles indictment against Trump for election interference
Rob Beschizza / 4:15 am PT Wed Aug 28, 2024
Special Counsel Jack Smith. Screenshot: U.S. Department of Justice
Special Counsel Jack Smith has refiled the election interference indictment against former President Trump. It's much the same as last time, but reworked to account for the U.S. Supreme Court's recent decision to make Trump immune from prosecution for "official" acts.
"The Defendant had no official responsibilities related to the certification proceeding, but he did have a personal interest as a candidate in being named the winner of the election" the superseding indictment says, in a line that wasn't in the original indictment.
It really brings home how completely focused on the person of Trump that ruling was, and how focused the court is now on his interests. Maybe there's some humor in Smith having had no problem at all securing the same indictment, from a completely different grand jury, without reference to the "official" acts of election interference for which Trump cannot be prosecuted. He can't be helped, he can only be saved.

Donald Trump stars in new ad as the "Malignant Narcissist" applying for a job (video)
Carla Sinclair / 5:33 pm PT Tue Aug 27, 2024
Image: Meidas Touch
Everyone knows that Donald Trump is a narcissist, but a new Meidas Touch ad says no, it's actually much worse than that. The convicted conman is actually suffering from malignant narcissism — a "severe personality disorder that pairs the self-absorbed behavior of narcissists with the unfeeling manipulation of sociopaths." (See video below.)
And yet the unwell man is applying for one of the the most important jobs in the world.
"Is someone you're thinking of hiring promising things that sound too good to be true?" asks a narrator straight from a 1960s public service announcement over clips of an ailing Trump. "Do their facts and figures not add up? Does the candidate seem self-absorbed?"
"In all likelihood, you've encountered the malignant narcissist," the narrator continues, explaining that unlike your run-of-the-mill narcissist, the malignant sort "is driven by a desire to dominate for personal gain."
Fortunately, you can spot one of these sociopaths from afar if you can recognize the red flags, which the ad describes using footage of Trump, along with these descriptors:
• Delusions of grandeur
• Regarding other people as tools for personal gain
• Lacking empathy — even for children
• Excessive use of superlatives
"If the candidate you're interviewing exhibits some or all of these red flags, trust your instincts and show them the door!" the narrator warns. In other words, tell them, You're fired!
In conclusion, "Stay vigilant. Look for the red flags. Trump is not okay. And he's only getting worse." (See video below.)

Ignoring rules and barging into a restricted area of Arlington National Cemetary for a photo opportunity, Trump's team confirms its disdain for those who have made the greatest sacrifice.
Two of Trump's team members got loud and pushy at Arlington National Cemetary on Monday. Naturally, Trump stooge Stephen Cheung tried to excuse somehow turning one of the Nation's most hallowed cemeteries into a campaign stop, but NPR's story sure reads otherwise:
A source with knowledge of the incident said the cemetery official tried to prevent Trump staffers from filming and photographing in a section where recent U.S. casualties are buried. The source said Arlington officials had made clear that only cemetery staff members are authorized to take photographs or film in the area, known as Section 60.
When the cemetery official tried to prevent Trump campaign staff from entering Section 60, campaign staff verbally abused and pushed the official aside, according to the source.
Trump participated in an event to mark the third anniversary of a deadly attack on U.S. troops in Afghanistan as U.S. forces withdrew from the country; 13 U.S. service members were killed in the attack. The Trump campaign has blamed President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, now the Democratic presidential nominee, for the chaotic withdrawal.

Japan's smallest hotel room: A cramped stay for two

A double room at Hotel Accela in Tokyo is just $36 a night.
A double room at Hotel Accela in Tokyo's Minamisenju neighborhood is just 5,200 yen (approximately US$36) a night. It features air conditioning, free Wifi, air conditioning, a large public bath, coin laundry, coin showers, vending machines, toilets with washlets, a free natural water server, and free breakfast coffee. The only downside is how tiny it is.
A reporter from SoraNews24 spent the night with a friend and found the room to be a bit too cozy. Take a look at the photos and see what you think.
He wrote, "It's certainly one of the smallest hotel rooms you'll find in Tokyo, especially when you book a stay for two. What it lacks in space it makes up for in views, though, making it a very reasonable deal for lovers…and those wanting to test the bounds of their friendship."

Kennedy Jr's new mission: Saving America from imaginary sky poison

RFK Jr (lev radin / Shutterstock.com/Stable Diffusion)
Bobby Junior, renowned for his environmental "activism" that once involved sawing off whale heads and dumping bear cub carcasses in Central Park, is eagerly eyeing the role of Secretary of Chemtrail Eradication in convicted felon Donald's future administration.
Junior—or more accurately, the brain worms piloting the withered husk that bears his name—claims he learned about chemtrails from none other than Hollywood's most esteemed authority on atmospheric science: actor Woody Harrelson.
Yesterday, a stable genius on Xitter, @BGatesIsaPsycho, dropped some heavy knowledge about jet vapor trails, proclaiming:
"I call them tanker terminators—we are paid more than any other pilot."
Chemtrail Pilot Whistleblower.
I'm convinced the majority of them are remotely operated—the tech obviously exists & there's way too many.
Junior, who prides himself on following reputable sources like @BGatesIsaPsycho, swiftly responded, "We are going to stop this crime."
For those blissfully unaware, chemtrail enthusiasts believe that the white trails left by jet engines are not merely water vapor but a sinister cocktail of chemicals being deliberately sprayed on the populace to pacify them, chemically castrate them, or dull their senses to the atrocities committed by the lizard overlords who secretly run the world.
As reported by the Huffington Post, Kennedy has long flirted with chemtrail conspiracy theories. In February 2023, he even hosted Dane Wigington, a veteran chemtrail theorist, on his podcast.
"Woody Harrelson was at my house about ten years ago," Kennedy recounted to Wigington. "He said, 'Come outside with me.' We watched these planes lay down a grid of contrails, and then it turned into clouds. Just like that, a beautiful day gone. I used to think it was ridiculous, but now I know better."
And with that, Junior is ready to lead the charge against the chemtrail menace, armed with the irrefutable evidence of a cloudy day and the wisdom of America's most beloved stoner.

The below video has gone viral in China for obvious reasons. The clip was recorded by one Ms. Wang who observed the incredible phenomenon from her hospital bed.
Many dismiss the spectacle as an optical illusion caused by the light refracting through Ms. Wang's 11th floor window, especially given nobody else in the city with its population of 16 million saw it.
A much more satisfying explanation is one provided by a commenter online and shared by MSN: "The Cosmic Bureau has fixed the issue, and those responsible have been reprimanded."

Two imbeciles indicted for gleefully damaging ancient rock formation on video

Back in April, a video on social media depicted two imbeciles gleefully pushing boulders off an ancient rock formation at Nevada's Lake Mead National Recreation Area. A few days ago, a federal grand injury charged Wyatt Clifford Fain, 37, and Payden David Guy Cosper, 31, with with one count each of injury and depredation of government property and one count of aiding and abetting. They pleaded not guilty.
"Don't fall … Daddy! Daddy!," says a young voice in the video.
Meanwhile, another person is heard saying "But why?"
