Bernie Moreno "held his breath" for two years before warning Congress about Max Miller

Sen. Bernie Moreno says Rep. Max Miller endangered his family for two years but only now publicly declared him unfit to serve in Congress.

United States Senator for the state of Ohio Bernie Moreno says he lived in fear for his granddaughter's safety whenever Rep. Max Miller had custody of her. Moreno spent those same two years not telling the public that Miller was unfit for Congress.

Moreno now says the past two years were "pure hell," that Miller is a danger to his daughter, and that he holds his breath whenever Miller has custody of his granddaughter. He also says Miller fails the basic standards of character required for elected office. The danger apparently lasted two years; the public warning arrived Sunday.

These include claims that Miller poured hot water on Moreno, beat her, pointed a gun at her head, and potentially broke the collarbone of their 2-year-old daughter. Miller and Moreno filed for divorce in August 2024, nearly two years after Miller was elected to Congress.

"Out of concern for the safety of my family, I hoped to keep this matter private, but Max Miller's increasingly erratic and dangerous behavior has made that impossible," Sen. Moreno posted on X. "He should not serve in the House of Representatives. I believe Max Miller needs to seek professional help to end the clear pattern of abuse he has left in his wake."

Family safety explains privacy. It does not turn a congressman or a senator into a private citizen.
