Extra-vehicular activities, or EVAs — spacewalks — are incredibly dangerous, even compared to the act of getting to space in the first place. When astronauts leave the relative safety of the International Space Station for missions that often last six to seven hours, they face threats from space debris, radiation, and untethering.
