As holiday deliveries pile up, Alabama has decided the answer to stolen packages is not less inequality or actual economic support, but a new law that turns repeated package theft into a felony, carrying up to 10 years in prison.
Sorry. Not feeling an ounce of sympathy for these porch-package-pilferers. Fix economic inequality, for sure...but that does not mean we have to justify or defend illegal behavior. #WhyCantItBeBoth
How do you know that the motivation of most porch pirates is to feed their families? I don't think that they are all Jean Valjeans. What about all those people knocking over 7-11s? They are just trying to feed their families, aren't they?
And I'm sorry: but if they are "able-bodied" enough to run onto a porch and grab a heavy package, then they should be "able-bodied" enough to get a damn job like the rest of us!
I see porch pirates as a new type of criminal in the same league as shoplifters. Did you notice that the porch pirate in the video showed up in a not to shabby vehicle @Delusions of Candor?
What happens to shoplifters after their 9th offense in Alabama? Anyone here from Alabama; Please fill me in?
