A fossilized Tyrannosaurus rex nicknamed Gus sold at Sotheby’s in New York on Tuesday for $50.1 million to a phone bidder, making it the most valuable dinosaur fossil ever auctioned. The price nearly doubled its estimate and beat the $44.6 million a stegosaurus fetched in 2024.
