A better shoelace knot
This’ll take you moments to learn, makes complete sense, and looks better than the old butterfly knot.
The Berluti knot is the product of someone thinking about a knot’s function, rather than just making it easy for kids to learn.
After years of knot tying in the Boy Scouts, as a fly fisherman, and sailing boats, it’s incredible that I never learned a better way to tie my shoes. I have long relied on the old “double-knot” to keep them from coming undone. As of today, I will be using the Berluti knot.

I prefer the “better bow”, or “Parisian”. Simpler because it is only one step added to the standard method, and gives a good secure knot. I started using it when I started wearing boots with round laces. Take 2 turns around the first loop before pulling through to make the 2nd loop; take the turns around your thumb to make a big enough gap to pull the second loop through.
