$150k in homophobic vandalism defaces Buffalo’s new stadium
It is sad that even a new stadium gets filled with the same old hate.
Buffalo’s brand-new Highmark Stadium isn’t even open yet, but someone has already christened the place with pornographic graffiti and anti-LGBTQ slurs. According to Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, vandals tagged multiple areas, including the tony new suites, causing six-figure damage and leaving a message that required exactly zero interpretation.
“There was spray-painted pornographic images, quite a few of them,” Poloncarz revealed to WIVB News 4 in an interview Wednesday. “It was in multiple locations, including some of the new suites.”
…
“The estimate that I’ve received today is, it costs more than $150,000 in damage because it’s a lot of work that has to be redone,” said Poloncarz. “With the way the paint was used, you can’t just wipe it off. It’s permanently damaged, some areas where they have to take tile off the wall, retile, redo items. So, I’ve been told, the total cost, between all the incidents, especially with this most recent one, is about $150,000 in damage.”
Following news of the vandalism earlier this week, our cameras caught up with Bills Mafia who were concerned this could affect the start of the team’s season. Both Poloncarz and project officials are saying that won’t happen.

I hope some money will be spent on better security features-one of the few times more cameras might be a good thing.

Ah, so glad that the yardball aficionados aren't going to be inconvenienced by this.
